What you need to know
- Qualcomm directs our attention to the XR business, stating that “something new” is coming to this environment.
- The company is offering a “smarter and more immersive” XR system, likely based on the upcoming Snapdragon chip.
- It makes me think something big or new Pico XR headphones are in the works for Meta Connect in September.
Qualcomm is teasing what’s next in the world of XR, and our minds are wondering: Is Meta involved?
Qualcomm began to think that “a new reality is coming soon”. short X writing this week. Of course, we should expect its Snapdragon chip to be part of that big reveal – whenever it’s set. The company is working on a new chip that it’s positioning as a game changer for the XR.
The teaser continues, “Imagine #XR smarter and more immersive than anything you’ve experienced before.” While what Qualcomm is shipping has got users interested, it’s not quite what’s got everyone (including us) talking. The post is accompanied by a short teaser video showing the Snapdragon chip inside the XR headset.
There are users wondering if Qualcomm is teasing another device from Samsung or Meta. Many users theorize that Qualcomm uses a Meta Quest Pro in his video. For us, we think the company is gearing up to make its big debut at Meta Connect later this year. The included headset definitely feels like a Quest product. Just compare it to the image at the top of this article. However, there’s always the chance that this is a Pico prelude rather than a major Meta teaser.

If that last sentence confused you, don’t worry. Pico is a headphone brand acquired by ByteDance. TikTok‘s parent company, in 2021. In a way you can think of it TikTok’s competitor to Meta Quest. The headset we mentioned is under Project Swan: a “high-end” XR device with special silicon and a modified design. Pico announced earlier this year that it plans to bring its new headphones to North America this year.
This leads us directly into our Meta Quest opponent scenario. Returning to Meta’s company Announced the Connect event Confirmed for September 23-24, 2026. We have AI and Quest on our minds, and the Meta has confirmed it. The company’s evening talk will focus on artificial intelligence, VR, wearables and more. The meta gave us enough of a teaser to brainstorm a bit. What we are most interested in is whether he will give us or not everything new on the long-rumored Ultralight Quest.
Android Central’s Take
Whether or not Qualcomm sells anything for the Quest, Meta Connect is shaping up to be an interesting event. The Meta is working on artificial intelligence, and I hope that means it puts the same effort into the next wave of XR headphones. As we’re only in June, details are still out. We should expect to see more in the coming months leading up to the keynote.
