Samsung explains in detail the secrets of the folding screen Flex Titanium technology

Samsung’s new foldable devices are on the way. The Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 we’ve already leaked six tracks since Sunday, and in just a little over a week, we’ll finally see all three become official. July 22 Unpacked event. Building a good foldable phone means tackling all sorts of tough engineering challenges, from reducing thickness to finding space for batteries, but at the top of that list is nailing the look and feel of a foldable display panel. One of the biggest challenges there is to minimize the impact of any creases in the middle and deliver a wide screen that still rivals non-foldables in terms of quality. We’ve already heard rumors that Samsung is working on something smart A “wrinkle-free” solution for the Fold 8 and the rest of this year’s lineup, and now the company explains how it did it.

Flex Titanium is a brand of Samsung innovative approach to folding design based on two main components: a flexible, super-thin titanium alloy foil integrated into the screen itself, right below the OLED panel, and a titanium plate underneath for flexible but firm support.

The alloy film is designed to be a tougher alternative to something like polymer, allowing Samsung to add stability to the screen without increasing the thickness – the film is only one-third the diameter of a human hair.

This is then supported by a titanium plate and covered with micro-patterned holes where it folds, which Samsung says has been able to adhere firmly to the display above, allowing it to remain flexible. This secure connection is designed to help with long-term durability, all without interfering with the ability to easily fold and unfold when needed.

According to Samsung, all this creates a no-compromise solution that simultaneously achieves the goals of design, quality and durability. While the company admits that titanium can be a difficult material to work with, Samsung seems very pleased with this latest solution it was able to come up with and is excited to show it off in next week’s phones.
