Apple TV’s hit sci-fi show was Severance a three-year hiatus between seasons 1 and 2, but star Adam Scott now says season 3 will come “much sooner” than that. Here’s what he had to say and what that means for release time.
Adam Scott gives an update on when to expect Severance season 3
Severance star Adam Scott was at the BAFTA TV awards over the weekend, here on Apple TV The studio made history as it rounds out the major comedy awards.
one interview with Deadline on the red carpet, Scott confirmed that Severance season 3 is starting filming “very soon.” But what he had to say about the timing of the release is more newsworthy.
Scott was asked if fans of Severance can expect a shorter wait for season 3 than the three-year gap between seasons 1 and 2.
“It’s more important to be great than to be fast,” the actor said at first. But then there’s good news about timing:
“We definitely plan to get out sooner than the last round, three years is too long.”
Season 2 premiered in January 2025. So another three-year gap will premiere in January 2028.
If Scott is right and season 3 is coming “much sooner” than its predecessor, you have to think that means at least six months earlier than the premiere.
That would mean Severance season 3 premieres In mid-2027– or maybe earlier.
Personally, I think anything before the middle of next year is very unlikely. I will not be surprised if the premiere falls in the fall of 2027.
But it’s good to hear that, at least for now, Severance’s creative team is confident that the gap will be much shorter than last time.
