Spotify now supports podcast clip sharing
Podcast cutting, saving, and sharing tools aren’t exactly new. Apps like Cloudy have offered similar features years.
However, Spotify now joins the list of podcast apps that allow listeners to create and share clips by supporting both audio and video podcasts.
Starting today, Free and Premium users can tap the scissors icon in the Now Playing view to open a clip creation interface where they can select the segment they want to save or share.
Spotify says the feature includes a trim tool that allows users to precisely select the start and end of a clip. In our tests, however, the tool showed only a transcript-based selector rather than a traditional timeline trimmer.
Once the user is done, they can either save the clip in a new ‘Your Clips’ folder in ‘Your Library’, share it via Spotify Messages, or share it directly to other platforms. Spotify says users can even add these clips to playlists, “ensuring those favorite moments are never lost on tape.”
According to Spotify, the feature is rolling out globally today and “expands to more shows over time.” This means that the tool may not be immediately available on all shows or for all users.
