Tap to Pay is an attractive option for small businesses because it allows them to accept contactless payments using just their iPhone. Typically, companies would have to buy or rent a payment terminal or card reader, so Apple’s service reduces costs while adding convenience.
A very minor drawback is that contactless payment security procedures will rarely require cardholders to insert their card into a reader and enter their PIN, which is not possible with Tap to Pay on the iPhone – but this is very rare.
The feature is now live More than 50 countries, with Mexico Before Malaysia. Apple says that today it is supported by five payment platforms in the Southeast Asian country, but not yet in the company’s own retail store there.
Starting today, ADAPTIS, Fiuu, HitPay, Stripe and Zoho are the first payment platforms in Malaysia to offer Tap to Pay on iPhone to their merchants, offering businesses of all sizes and across key sectors – including retail, food and beverage, beauty and professional services – at checkout. Tap to Pay on iPhone will also soon be available for payment on Apple The Exchange TRX.
American Express, JCB, Mastercard, MyDebit, UnionPay and Visa cards are accepted in the country.
