Telegram for Wear OS is back after five years


Five years after killing off the Wear OS app, Telegram is bringing back support for Android smartwatches with its latest update.

Telegram earlier this week quietly released a new Apple Watch app and now Wear OS is getting the same treatment. Telegram said in its latest update that smartwatch apps are coming both of them Apple Watch and Wear OS.

This brings the messaging app to the Pixel Watch and Galaxy Watch for the first time – When was the last time Telegram had a Wear OS appThe Pixel Watch didn’t exist and the Galaxy Watch still ran Tizen.

The new app gives you full access to your conversations, the ability to send and listen to voice messages, and more. supports a number of functions including The Wear OS app supports muting and closing chats, but currently there’s no way to view locations or send stickers — those are in the Apple Watch version, and Telegram says they’ll be coming to Wear OS next.

Telegram with excitement explains:

Somehow our Android developer added to silence and close conversationsas well as deleting messages. Meanwhile, the iOS developer added viewing locations and sending stickers. why?? We will never know. We convinced them to steal these features from each other in the next update.

The latest Telegram updates also bring major improvements to bot text formatting, links in query options, markup file support, the option to open links in external browsers with a long press, and the ability to force Telegram to open specific sites in an external browser instead of the internal browser.
