In this day and age, it really feels like there’s an endless amount of superhero content out there, but most of the time it comes straight from Marvel or DC. Now, there’s nothing wrong with that. There’s a reason these companies have been around for decades. Sometimes you need a break from Batman, SupermanSpider-Man and all these heroes we know.
So today I will give you a list of some of them the best superhero shows Non-Marvel or DC streaming. And trust me – you won’t be able to get away from the TV show when you watch it.
Boys
A modern day gore festival
This was one of those shows that I knew had to be added to the list Boysavailable with Amazon Prime subscription.
Based on the comic series of the same name, Boys is a five-season dark superhero series that primarily follows a vigilante group (The Boys). They’re trying to unravel the secrets of the mega Vought Corporation, which employs superpowers who aren’t necessarily the best people.
Let me be clear: this series is not for the faint of heart. There’s lots of gore, gore, and plenty of moments where you’ll be actively looking at the television screen and going, “WTF.” But the story is interesting and the performances from the ensemble – mainly Antony Starr and Karl Urban – are awesome. He doesn’t follow either multi-tracking modelso you’ll be able to talk to your friends about new episodes every week.

Heartwarming anime
Like a girl who wants to Recommend an anime to get into the genre, My Hero Academia Great to check out if you want a light superhero show.

When it comes to the big anime hits of the past decade, My Hero Academia is one that immediately comes to mind. The series has so many lovable and relatable characters, and everyone’s powers are so creative that no one is the same. You’ll laugh, cry, and scream at the TV because of some things and characters. But it will all be worth it in the end.

Imagine college, but with powers
If you love Boys but I want something that focuses on what the younger generation of Supes will be like Gene V series is for you.
Gene V is a spinoff of Boys. The series is essentially about students attending Godolkin University, where supes earn their hero rating and solidify their status in the Vought system. But as secrets are revealed, things begin to change.
Honestly, this series is just as messed up Boys (since it comes from the same minds behind the original). However, I’m actually leaning more towards this show. While it has superhero goodness, it has great episodes and messages about social issues and feels very mature in a dark superhero way.
Jaz Sinclair and Lizze Broadway’s performances stand out for me, but really the whole cast is fun too.
Invincible
Great animated series for adults
Oh, you knew I would Invincible here. I love this show.
Based on the comic series of the same name, Invincible follows Mark Grayson, a teenager who develops the superpowers he’s dreamed of for years as his father is a superhero known as Nolan Omni-Man. However, as Mark goes deeper into the world of superheroes, he discovers some secrets, like his father’s, that change his life forever.
Although it doesn’t feel as viscerally graphic Boys (because it’s animation), Invincible it’s still a superhero show for adults, so keep the kids away. However, as the show progresses, the story gets bigger and more intense, and each episode hooks you in almost immediately.
The voice cast is also stacked with names offering the talents of Steven Yeun, JK Simmons, Sandra Oh, Mark Hamill and more.

The Powerpuff Girls
Classic cartoon
Well, listen to me. At the end of the day, The Powerpuff Girls is a superhero show.
If you don’t know what it is The Powerpuff Girls The series is about three little girls created in a laboratory thanks to Professor Utonium. But they decide to go and fight crime on their own.
Is this series a cartoon? Yes, it is. But you know what? Most non-DC and non-Marvel shows tend to be more graphic, and I thrive on a show like that. The Powerpuff Girlsit’s about the innate goodness of these three super-powered people and how they want to help others.
It’s perfect for families, and to be honest, if you watch the previous seasons, there are some great messages too. I’m also partial to some of the earlier seasons because I think the comedy was honestly great for kids and adults alike. It creates nostalgia. You can watch the original series on Amazon Prime with an HBO Max subscription.
