It’s officially July, which means we’re finally in Samsung’s foldable season. And ahead of the company’s rumored launch later this month, a new leak has revealed the full specs of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 series will be particularly interesting this year. Samsung is reportedly renaming the previously standard Galaxy Z Fold to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, while the regular smartphone Galaxy Z Fold 8 expected to be a wider, shorter foldable device designed to compete more directly with the apple‘s rumored folding iPhone.
Tarun Wattswho often shares A UIRelated leaks on -X now claim that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will sport a 7.6-inch Quad HD+ in-display display with a 4:3 aspect ratio. The lid display is said to be a 5.5-inch Quad HD+ panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio. Both displays will reportedly use Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels that support a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
In terms of design, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is rumored to be only 9.7mm thick when folded and 4.5mm when unfolded. Its overall dimensions are said to be 123.9 × 81.9 × 9.7 mm folded and 123.9 × 161.4 × 4.5 mm unfolded. The phone is also expected to weigh around 200 grams, making it impressively light for a foldable.
Like Samsung’s other 2026 flagships, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is also expected to feature this device. Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxythe same chip was found in the Galaxy S26 Ultra. It will reportedly come with 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage options.
As for the cameras, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will reportedly have a 50MP primary camera along with a 50MP ultra-wide sensor on the back. Both the lid and internal selfie cameras are expected to use 10-megapixel sensors.
Adoption of Android Central
On paper, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 looks like a very attractive package. It seems to check almost every flagship box, though the biggest differentiator this year might be price. I’m actually more interested to see how the regular Galaxy Z Fold 8 performs compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra this time around.
One welcome improvement is the battery. The leak suggests that Samsung has increased the capacity to 4,800 mAh, which is larger than previous Galaxy Z Fold models. The phone is also expected to support Super Fast Charging 2.0, although the exact charging speed is yet to be revealed.
Samsung has yet to officially announce its summer Galaxy Unpacked event, but the company has He started his next presentation on Instagramsuggesting that an official announcement may not be too far off.
