Apple TV is quickly surpassing HBO as the primary platform for prestige TV, especially sci-fi. Slow Horses, Severance, Foundation, For All Humanity, Murderbot, Silo, Pluribusand Widow’s Bayamong others. Add what’s next Neuromancer series to this list, William Gibson’s highly effective adaptation 1984 cyberpunk novel of the same name. The streaming platform released a short teaser during San Diego Comic-Con, and visually, it looks fantastic, even just based on the minute-long footage.
Saturday’s various SDCC panels also gave us a teaser for Prime Video Carrie; trailers for Dark Matter S2 and Matchbox: The Movie; and some Marvel casting news.
Fans of Gibson’s book already know Neuromancer the story; We will have to wait and see how much the series will stick to the novel. According to the official logline, the series “follows Case, a damaged, high-ranking superhacker who enters a digital espionage network with mirror-eyed razor-girl assassin partner Molly in order to rob a corporate dynasty of their undisclosed secrets.” Callum Taylor is best known as Theseus Scamander Fantastic Beasts franchise, with Briana Middleton as Keys (Heritage) as Molly.
The cast also includes blonde Mark Strong as Armitage; Joseph Lee as Hideo; Clemens Poesy as Marie-France Tessier; Peter Sarsgaard as John Ashpool; Emma Laird as Linda Lee; Max Irons as Jean Tessier-Ashpool; Dane DeHaan as Peter Riviera; Marc Menchaca as Dixie Flatline; Andre de Shields as Julius Deane; and Isabella Pappas as Mitchell.
Neuromancer premieres January 22, 2027 on Apple TV+.
Carrie
I am a loyal fan Mike Flanagan‘s burgeoning horror portfolio, and he has a particular affinity for the works of Stephen King. Gerald’s game and Doctor Sleep. But I admit I’m a little skeptical about his new Prime Video mini-series CarrieKing’s most famous character, immortalized by Sissy Spacek in the 1976 film. We don’t need anyone else disappointing remake So what’s the story – especially stretching over six episodes?
On the plus side, Flanagan insists he has no intention of creating another straight adaptation of the novel. “Carrie written half a century ago” Flanagan said during the SDCC panel. “Carrie Magnificently adapted by Brian De Palma. It’s iconic. It is untouchable. There is no reason to follow those footsteps and try to follow that path. However, the world has changed a lot. I think a lot of people think they know what the show is. The biggest thing that excites me today is knowing what a big surprise we have Carrie will be”.
The teaser itself doesn’t offer any real surprises to anyone familiar with the story, but it’s just a minute-long shot. I’m inclined to trust Flanagan’s instincts, given his past record and the stellar supporting cast he’s assembled, including several regulars.
We have Samantha Sloyan – as the overzealous Bev Keane Midnight Messi-as Margaret White, Carrie’s mother; Michael Trucco as John Hargensen, a wealthy lawyer and father to Chris (Alison Thornton), the girls’ leader; Rahul Kohli as Harold Allison, Margaret’s stepfather; Ruth Codd as Kara; Matthew Lillard as Chief Henry Grail; Katey Sakhoff as Judith Brigham, Margaret’s mother; Heather Graham as Mrs. Hargensen; Tahmoh Penikett as Ralph White, Margaret’s late husband and Carrie’s father; and Katie Siegel in an as-yet-undisclosed role. (I think we’re going to get a lot of White family memories.)
For the main cast we have Summer H. Howell as Carrie; Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, the only popular girl who regrets teasing Carrie; Joel Oulette (no relation) as Tommy Ross, Sue’s boyfriend; Amber Midthunder as gym teacher Rita Desjardin; Arthur Conti as Billy Nolan, Chris’s boyfriend; Josie Totah as Chris’s BFF Tina Blake; and Thalia Dudek as Emaline, a new character created for the miniseries.

Dark Matter S2
Apple TV also debuted the official trailer for the second season of the sci-fi series Dark Matter. In S1, quantum physicist Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton) lives a wonderful life as a college professor in Chicago with his beautiful wife Daniela (Jennifer Connelly) and son Charlie (Oakes Fegley). He then finds himself kidnapped at gunpoint by an alternate version of himself and sent to another reality where his life is very different. His alter-ego figured out how to travel between dimensions through a large metal box.
In the S1 finale, the original Jason, Daniela and Charlie find their way seems like a safe haven In “World 26”. But this new trailer makes it clear that their new life is in jeopardy. According to official considerations:
Season two has Dessens leading a quiet life in a seemingly safe world until something unthinkable forces them to flee once again. As Jason’s obsession with the Box deepens, Daniela’s growing paranoia pushes him over the edge and threatens to tear apart their fragile stability. Elsewhere, Amanda (Alice Braga) and Ryan (Jimmie Simpson) join forces to find their way home. With Blair (Amanda Brugel) determined to stop him, Leighton (Dayo Okeniyi) relentlessly pursues his grand vision of creating a perfect world.
The second season Dark Matter premieres August 28, 2026 on Apple TV+.
Matchbox: The Movie
Not much to say about it Matchbox: The Movie this is no longer in the title. It’s a movie inspired by Mattel’s Matchbox toy cars, and judging by the SDCC trailer, that’s about all the brand has to offer. Director Sam Hargrave and writer David Coggeshall have turned these subtle concepts into a feature-length action comedy for Apple TV. And you know what? It looks like it could be solid running fun.
John Cena stars as Sean Walker, an ex-soldier who decides to reunite with his childhood Matchbox car-loving friends, played by Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson, Teyonah Parris and Arturo Castro. The whole group ends up being drugged and kidnapped by bad guys looking for a nuclear warhead. Apparently, the CIA thinks Sean and his friends stole the nuke, so they decide to steal the bomb again and get their lives back. Some wacky action hijinks ensue, involving real-life versions of some classic Matchbox toy cars.
Matchbox: The Movie It will premiere on Apple TV on October 9, 2026.
Marvel news: Ghost Rider, Black Panther III
A Marvel Studios release Avengers: Judgment Day trailer It was a bit of a surprise a few days before SDCC, as fans expected it to be at the Marvel panel on Saturday. The panel ended with a focus on big announcements about other upcoming projects Doomsday The cast gathered onstage for a group selfie, a bit of a Q&A — with a cameo from Ryan Gosling, who plays a fan in a Deadpool costume — and some exclusive teaser footage from the film.
Gosling’s involvement wasn’t just a side stunt: Marvel boss Kevin Feige announced that Gosling will be a star in the new Ghost Rider The film is directed by Shawn Levy (who just finished Gosling Star Wars: Starfightercoming out next May). Gosling has long wanted to play the character, previously played by Nicolas Cage on the big screen in 2007 and 2011, although it is unclear whether Gosling will reprise his role as Johnny Blaze or instead play Danny Ketch. (Agents of SHIELD An avatar of Robbie Reyes played by Gabriel Luna was revealed.) New Ghost Rider It is planned to be released in 2028.
Finally, director Ryan Coogler took the stage and David Jonsson (Long Walk) was drawn in Black Panther III As T’Challa’s grown son Toussaint/T’Challa II. Black Panther IIIThe film, which is expected to be the last part of the trilogy, is scheduled to be released on December 15, 2028.
