The Galaxy S27 may provide an unexpected camera update

We are hearing rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S27 series from 2024, and has now revealed everything you need to know about this week’s Galaxy Unpacked event Z Flip 8, Z fold 8and Z Fold 8 UltraLeaks about Samsung’s next high-profile phones are sure to attract attention. Case in point: today a new report sheds some light on what we can expect from the S27 cameras.

Dutch edition Galaxy Club reports that the Samsung Galaxy S27 and S27 Plus may feature a 50-megapixel primary camera sensor powered by Sony. The hardware itself doesn’t sound out of the ordinary for a high-end phone in 2027, but it’s interesting that Samsung has been using its own ISOCELL sensors in the main cameras of S-series phones since the Galaxy S22.

A higher level Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra models are also expected to arrive a new 16-megapixel selfie cameraas previously reported in April. Galaxy Club it’s unclear if the standard and Plus variants will get the same upgrade or if they’ll have the same 12-megapixel front-facing camera that Samsung has been using on its S-series phones since the Galaxy S23. The report also claims that the Pro and Ultra versions of the S27 will come with a new 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera.

Earlier this month, we heard that all Galaxy S27 models could come with Samsung’s divisive Privacy Screen hardware. Depending on who you ask, this can be either good or bad: Privacy Screen’s ability to hide content on your screen can be useful, but some users have found that the required hardware hurts the viewing experience and even causes eye strain.

Samsung usually announces its S series phones at the beginning of the year, although this year’s S26 series arrived a little later than usual, shipping in early March. Either way, we’ll definitely be hearing more about the S27 lineup in the coming weeks and months.
