If you are equal somewhat keeping up with what’s new in the gaming world, I’m sure you’ve seen NVIDIA’s new DLSS 5 technology — and how to fry completely online. Indeed, the latest iteration of the firm Super Resolution generative use, the program has not been well received AI transforming scenes with simulated photorealistic lighting called extraordinary “AI slop all over social media.
I think DLSS 5’s effects actually look good in ambient shots, though some have them comparisons we can seeI believe this goes too far and starts to spoil the intended look of the scene. in filming with charactersthough it makes them look like they’ve been hit with a “yassification” filter like you’d find in a smartphone app. Before and after shocked the society, even NVIDIA shocked developers by agreeing to introduce DLSS 5 using their games.

“Who is she? It’s a different girl, I guess she looks different,” he continued, confused. “You know why I can tell? Look, his eyes don’t look right anymore. One eye looks here and one eye looks there.”
“He’s somehow got wrinkles on his lips that weren’t there before. See? There’s all kinds of details added that weren’t there before,” he added. York then noted a few obvious differences with things like the shape of Grace’s ears and nose. “You don’t watch the game anymore, does that make sense? It’s scary.”
While I was hesitant to say anything definitely If DLSS 5 is actually in the hands of none other than NVIDIA, I have to admit that I’m very skeptical of the software’s claim that it only affects lighting. Lighting can have a huge effect on the look of an image, it’s true, but after seeing how full and sharp Grace’s lips are in DLSS 5, or how her gaze subtly changes, I still can’t help but wonder.
“They’re dead wrong,” NVIDIA’s Jensen Huang might say all you want, but the truth of the matter is that regardless of the subtleties of what’s going on with DLSS 5 under the hood, it just gets overlooked when applied to in-game characters and causes countless players to feel uncanny.
The silver lining in all of this is that DLSS 5 isn’t scheduled to arrive on NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series GPUs until fall of this year, so the company can still improve it before release. NVIDIA also says that if developers choose to support DLSS 5, they’ll be able to fine-tune how they look in their games, which hopefully means we’ll never be dealing with characters that look like Grace here.
