The Gemini app’s Temporary Chat icon has suddenly changed to something that screams “temporary” less.
Temporary Chat works the same as Incognito Mode, but for chats with it Twins. The sign remained the same design – a small chat icon outlined with a dotted line. this moved places and even disappeared completely, but it looks the same since the beginning has been activated.
But now it looks completely different. A server-side update appears to have disabled the familiar Temporary Chat icon. The new icon looks like a small oval with a pen sticking out of it. It lives in the same place – in the upper right corner of the new conversation.

When clicked, the original icon appears in the middle of the page, describing what the Temporary Chat is for. The icon above is highlighted in blue as before.

The new Temporary Chat icon on Gemini doesn’t appear final, and if it does, it’s possible that it appears out of nowhere due to a bug. Only the mobile app is regulated. It fits the Gemini app’s personality a little better, with a rounded look like the text box and options below. Still, the dotted chat icon was instantly recognizable, even if it was a bit boxy.
Overall, there is nothing different about the Gemini app. Laptops it still appears in the menu sidebar and the UI looks intact.
There seems to be no official word on the new icon. It’s a minor tweak, but it can certainly be a little annoying if you’re looking for a Temp Chat in a hurry.
