The HTC Vive Eagle is coming to the US to challenge the Ray-Ban Meta

The market of smart glasses received serious new blood. HTC is finally bringing its Vive Eagle AI glasses to the US waiting almost a year.

According to the product’s Amazon listing, the HTC Vive Eagle will ship on September 1, 2026. HTC offers six round or square frame configurations, clear or solar lenses, and four different colors such as Bright Coffee and Apricot. Despite the technology packed inside, they’re still impressively light at just 48.8g for a midsize (via Notebook check).

The glasses were designed as a direct challenge to the great achievers Meta-Ban Raybut there’s a catch: HTC’s new entry retails for $499, $200 more than the Meta’s cheapest model. So what does that extra money get you? You get a 12MP ultra-wide FPV camera that can capture 3024 x 4032 resolution photos and 1512 x 2016 video at 30fps.

But the real attraction here is the onboard software. The Vive Eagle integrates HTC’s own Vive AI voice assistant with optional input Google Gemini and ChatGPT. You can take quick voice command snapshots, take notes and do live AI audio translation in 13 different languages ​​in real-time.

Under the hood, you get the silicon powering this generation of smart glasses: Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor. This is coupled with 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. The battery is 235 mAh, which should be enough for 4.5 hours of continuous stereo speaker playback. It’s also IP54 rated, so it can withstand a bit of unexpected rain.

Pre-orders are over on Amazon. At this price, HTC should get it right and smooth it out on day one with AI. Otherwise, the price tag will be a huge hurdle to overcome.
