I’m most interested in this graphics rumor for SD 4 Gen 6. I used to have budget phones and they worked fine for a while. Games continue to be updated. Their graphics continue to evolve. Finally, this budget phone looks… outstanding. Qualcomm’s try helping by offering a better GPU and having 90fps is a good thing. I just can’t help but wonder how far it’s willing to push the GPU of a budget chip because it is a budget.

Budget phones generally fall down a notch when it comes to overall performance. However, details of Qualcomm’s next Snapdragon 4 Gen 6 are alleged Notebook Check shows that the company is trying to close the gap. The post claims that the SD 4 Gen 6 could include the much-needed Adreno GPU update. The chip may switch to the Adreno 6 series.
It is suspected that this will provide another significant increase in graphics output for budget phones. Apparently, there were no specific figures in the publication. Other supposed improvements include its security, which is a “refresh”. As far as connectivity is concerned, the SD 4 Gen 6 is rumored to have Bluetooth 6.0 and improved Wi-Fi 6 over Wi-Fi 5 on the Gen 5 SoC.
The publication adds that the Snapdragon 4 Gen 6 may retain the same CPU architecture as its predecessor, as it may remain the same. If so, then we could be in another 2+6 Kyro base arrangement (Kryo Gold, Kryo Silver). Another similarity could be the process, which NotebookCheck says may remain at 4nm.
Qualcomm released a pair of chips in Mayboth focused on the affordable phone market. Graphics were the focus for Qualcomm with the SD 4 Gen 5. The company claims that this chip offers a “77% increase in Adreno GPU performance for 90 fps in games.” It was a big moment for Qualcomm. No 4-series chip has achieved such high FPS (frames per second) before. Note that this is on the Adreno 4 series GPU. With rumors suggesting improvements in this department, we hope Qualcomm can beef up its graphics even more.
Budget phones often struggle with mobile games with more intensive graphics, but turning them down to medium or low can help. However, if Qualcomm really wants to boost the GPU again, perhaps users can feel more comfortable with average graphics without noticeable FPS drops.
Rumors about the Snapdragon 4 Gen 6 did not imply any release date. Given that we got Qualcomm’s last wave in May, there’s a good chance the company will stick with it next year.
