New Siri app It’s compatible with the new Siri AI by default in iOS 27, but there’s a way to quickly switch to ChatGPT at any time. Here’s how it works.
You can use ChatGPT from the Siri app with alerts
iOS 27 includes a dedicated Siri app with a familiar chatbot-style interface, including a text input field, support for image and file attachments, and a menu for accessing previous conversations.
However, even though the app currently defaults to Siri AI, users can quickly switch to ChatGPT by long-pressing the input field and then clicking “Ask…”.

This brings up a pop-up that lets you choose between Siri and ChatGPT. Apple could potentially add support for other chatbots in the future, though currently only these two options are available.
There is one notable limitation: the chat context is not transferred when changing chatbot providers. In practice, this means that ChatGPT cannot see messages previously exchanged with Siri, and Siri cannot access the part of the conversation handled by ChatGPT.
Additionally, closing and reopening the app causes it to switch back to Siri, even in ongoing conversations where ChatGPT is selected. It’s not clear if this is a bug or intended behavior in the iOS 27 beta.
It’s also worth noting that ChatGPT appears as an alternative chatbot provider in the Siri AI app, regardless of whether the ChatGPT extension is enabled below. Settings > Siri > ChatGPT.
For now, there doesn’t appear to be a way to permanently set ChatGPT as the default model of the Siri app, although that may change in the future.
