What you need to know
- Ultrahuman has announced an Emerald update to its app that brings a “decision engine” known as UltraSphere.
- UltraSphere can deliver over 60 “Next Best Activity” suggestions to users based on location, weather, profile and biomarkers (sleep, HRV, recovery, etc.).
- Other updates include VO2 Max algorithm updates, heart rate accuracy improvements, and improved exercise detection.
- The Emerald update is rolling out worldwide today (July 23).
Ultrahuman pushes its smart rings and users to be better at health and fitness. But the company isn’t done, and today’s (July 23) app overhaul is the biggest in its history.
The Emerald update is rolling out later this week for the Ultrahuman app. The company highlights “15 new and overhauled features” in this patch, but the star “decision-making engine” is the UltraSphere. The app makes several UI improvements in this patch. The company says it redesigned the UI for clarity to “promote health information and better decision-making.” Users get light and dark modes, a Jade AI badge and “just in time” information on the Ring tab.
UltraSphere is central to the Emerald upgrade and main screen of the program. Ultrahuman says it’s a “decision engine that generates 60+ Next Best Actions, such as increasing energy and alertness, relaxing, and promoting more restful, restorative sleep.” The UltraSphere doesn’t do it alone, as the press release notes that it uses Jade AI to draw on your markers from sleep, recovery, HRV, cycle phase and more.
“All wearable trackers generate data. Data is empowering, but people need more than numbers – they want to know what to do,” says Mohit Kumar, CEO of Ultrahuman. In that spirit, UltraSphere makes its suggestions based on your location and weather, your circadian rhythm, and your profile.
If you’re a parent or someone who works night shifts, UltraSphere will tailor its offerings to fit that lifestyle. A “Next Best Activity” suggestion might include a “Get Light” prompt that tells the user, “Go outside for a few minutes right after waking up. Morning light sets the body clock so users are alert today and can fall asleep more easily.”
Your heart rate and VO2 Max
The Emerald update makes two important changes to the app’s tracking and accuracy. Ultrahuman says its Ring manages all the processes on your device. This is done to keep your data accessible offline.
The latter focuses on training analysis and heart rate accuracy with the Ring Pro and Air. Automatic detection and tagging of exercises has been improved. Heart rate details also get a few steps up in this update. The Ultrahuman app also welcomes third-party devices for training tracking. highlights many GPS sports watches as apple Watch, Garmin, WHOOP, etc.
Ultrahuman focuses on VO2 Max capabilities by increasing accuracy by 21%. The company credits the underlying algorithm as “proven” against the gold standard CPET lab tests. The Emerald update for the Ultrahuman app is rolling out globally today (July 23). While we’ve covered a few important updates here, you’ll find a few more: Sleep Screen, Longevity tab, Contacts, Windows, Live View, Today’s Activity, Today’s Activity, Contextual Content, Goals, and PowerPlugs.
