What you need to know
- Galaxy Z Flip 8 upgrades are rumored to include a lighter build than its 2025 counterpart, as well as a “wrinkle-free design structure.”
- A new hinge has been rumored for the Flip 8, which could help the Flip 8 get a slightly less visible crease.
- Previous rumors suggest that the device could be boring as a bigger battery and new cameras have been left out.
While we’ve been plagued by many Galaxy Z Fold 8 rumors so far, there’s a new wave of Samsung’s clamshell upgrades.
Weekend, tipster Lanzuk in Naver (Korea) claims that Samsung is preparing a number of potentially meaningful upgrades for the Galaxy Z Flip 8 (via). GSMArena). One important note that set the Galaxy Z Fold 7 apart from last year is the Flip 8’s weight. The tipster claims that the foldable device will weigh around eight grams. Additionally, Samsung may be working on improvements for the display’s crease.
The tipster claims that the Flip 8 will have a “wrinkle-free design structure.” The driving force behind this could be the phone’s hinge, which is said to be all-new. What could take the Flip 8’s claimed crease-free design even further is Samsung’s UTG (ultra-thin glass) glass, the publication theorizes.

Another major change is the Flip 8’s width. It is believed that the device may be slightly wider compared to the 2025 iteration. Lanzuks adds that we may see a small price increase, but it’s not completely out of left field, even with Samsung. worried about it.
The tipster ends by touting the new Flip 8 cameras, as well as a larger battery and charging capabilities.
From boring to not so boring?
This is not the first time we have been disappointed by its absence Rumors of a battery upgrade for the Flip 8. Back in March, it was claimed that Samsung might forget to upgrade its clamshell battery and leave us with a 4,300mAh cell again. As for the cameras, the Flip 8 will likely see a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide and a 10MP selfie lens.
Android Central’s Take
The Flip 8 is a funny phone because while we’d love to see something new — more — it’s already a pretty solid phone. That’s not to say we’d like to see a bigger battery (at least you know) or perhaps a telephoto lens. I would even settle for a better ultra-wide camera lens up to this point.
There were some other boring Flip 8 rumors in April. One report claimed that the device will be slightly thinner (like late last year) with many of the same internals as the Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC. On the outside, we’re looking at a 6.9-inch screen and a 4.1-inch clamshell display — very similar to what’s already out there. Rumors about Naver may help fix what may remain the same, but only time will tell.
We expect the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Fold 8 to debut later this summer during Unpacked.
