Federal prosecutors this week charged three people after a truck carrying more than $1 million worth of Apple products was hijacked earlier this year.
a press releaseThe United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York reports that three people (Alan Christhofer Cedeno-Ferrer, Michael Mejia-Nunez and Ennait Alexis Sirett-Padilla) hijacked a truck parked in front of an Apple Store at the Americana Manhasset mall in New York. The situation happened on January 3, 2026 around 8:00 am.
Two employees inside the truck brought $1.2 million worth of MacBooks, iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, and more to the store that morning. was preparing to deliver.
Three men approached delivery workers armed with handguns, forced one of the workers into the back of a truck and handcuffed them. They ordered the other victim to get into the driver’s seat to drive the truck. The victim’s driver was directed to a secluded parking lot behind an office building on Northern Boulevard in Manhasset, New York, and then placed in the back of a truck with the first victim, where his hands were also zipped.
A Home Depot box truck, rented by Cedeno-Ferrer using a fake Pennsylvania driver’s license, was pulled into the parking lot and behind a delivery truck to arrange the cargo parts. The men moved all the Apple merchandise from the delivery truck to the Home Depot truck. When they were done, they closed the tailgate of the truck with the victims inside and left. One of the victims was able to free himself and called 911.
The stolen Apple equipment was later taken to a self-storage facility in Paterson, New Jersey. Sirett-Padilla rented a storage unit in his name that was used to “facilitate the transfer of stolen Apple merchandise from a Home Depot truck to a U-Haul truck and another vehicle driven by an accomplice.”
The Home Depot truck was abandoned in the Bronx and found by law enforcement two days later.
Cedeno-Ferrer’s fingerprints were found on a copy of the lease taken from inside the Home Depot truck, prosecutors said. In addition, Cedeno-Ferrer is said to have activated two of the stolen Apple watches within days of the robbery.
The three face up to 30 years in prison if convicted of the charges.
