Longtime venture capitalist Ron Conway said Friday that he was “recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.”
In Writing in XConway wrote that she will be “stepping back from some of my regular activities” but will “continue to support” SV Angel-backed founders: “With a more focused and balanced schedule, I can prioritize treatments while helping SV Angel founders at their turning points, as we always do!”
Conway also said that SV Angel will be “invariable” because his son, Topher Conway, “has made all of our investment decisions for the better part of the last decade.” And noted that another son, Ronny Conway, joined as managing partner in 2024.
“They bring expertise from almost every major technology era in Silicon Valley and are now focused on partnering with the founders who are building the future of artificial intelligence,” Conway said.
He said he did not disclose the “specific type of cancer” in his diagnosis because he did not want “speculation” about the prognosis, but remained “optimistic.”
“I’m fortunate to have the best/amazing team of doctors at UCSF in San Francisco, and as you know, I never back down from a fight,” Conway said.
