Virgin Mobile Saudi Arabia has launched Aman Plansa new range of mobile plans that integrate child protection into the network instead of relying on a separate app.
The company says the service blocks access to TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, X, Facebook, Threads and Discord, while also enabling YouTube Restricted Mode. Protection is automatic and does not require parents to install additional software or change phone settings.
It sounds simple, but there is an important point: the protection only applies when the device is connected to the Virgin Mobile Saudi network. It doesn’t cover Wi-Fi or international roaming, meaning kids can still access blocked services outside of a mobile network.
Virgin Mobile says the network-level approach is designed to make controls more difficult to bypass than conventional parental control apps. The company also says the system doesn’t access personal data or device content, and doesn’t delete files, photos or videos already on the phone. Instead, it prevents new content downloads or interactions through blocked apps while the device is online.
The plans consist of two phases. Oh, 60 Includes 10 GB data and 100 local minutes Oh, 100 Includes 30 GB data and 300 local minutes. Virgin Mobile says digital protection is built into the plan rather than added as a separate service.
The company also has a dose of realism in its pitch: Virgin Mobile notes that, as with any digital protection system, it cannot guarantee 100% blocking of online content because the internet is constantly changing. So it’s not a silver bullet, it’s a filter.
The release is exclusive to Saudi Arabia, at least for now. Virgin Mobile Saudi Arabia, operating under Beyond ONE Saudi Arabia, is developing the Aman Plans as part of a broader push to offer telecoms services that go beyond connectivity and help families manage children’s online access with more confidence.
The practical question for parents considering plans is less about concept and more about limitations. Aman Plans can be useful for households that want built-in controls without device-level setup, but the protection disappears over Wi-Fi and roaming, so it works best as a layer in a broader security setup rather than a complete replacement for parental controls.
