Rumor has itWalmart has quietly debuted a collection of Onn-branded TVs, all equipped with Google TV and starting at under $248.
Walmart, the company He bought Vizio Not long ago, selling own-brand televisions was no stranger. There are a number of TVs from the Onn brand, including several from Vizio that run Cast OS. But earlier this year, some listings suggested that a new batch would run Google TV, and sure enough, they’re coming.
It starts with two pretty basic 4K UHD QLED sets that are pretty incredible deals. There’s a 55-inch model for $248 and a 65-inch model for $358. Both pack 60Hz panels, Dolby Vision, and a modified version of the same remote used in Walmart’s Google TV streaming dongles. Both models offer three HDMI ports. Dark zones and such details aren’t offered, but they look at least halfway decent for the price tag.

What is more interesting here is that Walmart Onn is now the latest brand – following others TCL and Hisense – Using Google TV to rival Samsung’s ‘The Frame’ series.
“The Fresco” is Walmart’s effort, and in 55-inch and 65-inch sizes, the screen includes a matte anti-glare coating and a faux wood frame in either “Walnut” or “Golden Brown.”

Compared to the above sets, these sets appear a lot it’s slimmer and more modern and has a unique remote too. The frame is removable (and held together with magnets) and a “telescoping hanger” wall mount is included. “Gallery mode” can scroll through artwork or your own personal photos. Like cheaper sets, Dolby Vision and 4K UHD are featured with this QLED panel, and Walmart calls Apple AirPlay support on “The Fresco,” which isn’t mentioned on lower-end units. These also have three HDMI ports.
Pricing is $548 and $698 for the 55-inch and 65-inch sizes, respectively.
Still, assuming the quality is decent in person, it’s hard to argue with that price tag. Walmart’s early review program was active at “The Fresco” and the response was overwhelmingly positive—take that with a grain of salt, of course, considering these weren’t actual shoppers.
