A year has passed Sony announced the title again Spider man movie. now, at the same eventshowed a full scene that gave us a little more insight into what this title actually means.
This title certainly is Spider-Man: The New Dayand at CinemaCon 2026, the audience saw more Peter Parker (Tom Holland) must pass this time. It’s been years since he saved the world by erasing his memory, and now with his former friends returning home from college, new problems arise both at home and abroad.
Holland made a video for the incident he called New Day the most emotional and mature Spider man The movie is still a really new day. To show this, they screened a scene that we saw parts of in the first trailer. Peter is sitting in the bodega when Ned walks in looking for some mini kegs. She buys them off and Peter follows her to the party. A housewarming party for Ned and his roommate MJ.
Peter crashes the party, drinks some rough beer, and finds himself in Ned’s bedroom. There he finds a Chewbacca minifigure nice call backand then looks at the bulletin board. It’s full of news articles about Spider-Man. Ned comes out of the bathroom and admits that he’s been trying to figure out who she is. Not because he was creepy or because he didn’t want to unmask him, but because Ned explained that Spider-Man had saved him and his friends a few times in high school.
Ned starts tearing it apart. He knows Spidey is from Queens and has even narrowed it down to a few neighborhoods. He says there are two main suspects and shows photos of Tony Revolori as the Flash and Martin Starr as Mr. Harrington. Peter laughs.
While this is happening, MJ walks in. He worries that there are so many people in his apartment, and says that chances are a few are sociopaths. She says hello to Peter and he gives her flowers. He asks her name and she says it’s “Maynard” even though she can barely say it. Ned thinks they know each other because he’s at the party, but he says he’s just a neighbor. “Friendly neighbor,” he says.
Ned asked MJ if he was going to the interview today and he did. In fact, he got the job. But he rejected it. “I don’t want to work for a soulless corporation,” he says. Ned understands, but says that’s true of every corporation. But MJ says something tells him he should expect something big. As he glances in Peter’s direction, he’s a character he’s playing Star Wars: Ahsoka‘s Eman Esfandi enters the scene.
We don’t know his name (fingers crossed it’s not “Paul”.), but he brings them top-notch liquor, which Ned appreciates. He then slides over to MJ and kisses her saying, “That’s my girl.” Peter sees this and leaves.
Scene after scene followed a few scenes from the trailer, followed by a new scene where Spider-Man stands in front of a bunch of thugs and lays down before beating them up. He jokes that he’s not as young as he used to be.
So we still don’t know who the villain is or what the story is, but we do know that a slightly older and wiser Peter faces more than just villains. He faces the effects of his past.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi), Spider-Man: The New Day brings back Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Michael Mando and Mark Ruffalo from various corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, then adds new characters played by Sadie Sink. (Strange things) and Tramell Tillman (Specialty). It opens on July 31.
