Well, Samsung Gallery is officially cutting ties with OneDrive

Last September, we found the code in a proposed leaked One UI 8.5 build Samsung Gallery will end support for Microsoft’s OneDrive. However, no information was given on when this integration will be completed. Based on screenshotwhich is also taken from a leaked build of One UI 8.5, with April 11, 2026 believed to be the final date. Although that date has been proven wrong, we finally know when Samsung will officially pull the plug on Gallery OneDrive backups.

According to the page, on September 30, 2026, you will lose the ability to sync your photos directly from the Gallery app to OneDrive. As we learned last year, Samsung plans to replace OneDrive with its own cloud solution.

Microsoft warns that after this date, all photos stored in OneDrive will be deleted from Samsung Gallery. However, those photos will still exist and be available online OneDrive websiteas well as on the devices on which the program is installed. You also have the option to continue backing up your photos to Microsoft’s cloud service. But you need to update the camera roll settings and download the OneDrive app.

To resume backing up to OneDrive, Microsoft says to follow these steps:

1. Open the OneDrive app.
2. If you’re not already signed in, sign in with your Microsoft account. This may be different from your Samsung account.
3. Tap your Account Profile at the top left of the app.
4. Select Camera backup.
5. Make sure the correct account is selected.
6. Turn on camera backup.
7. Allow access to photos and videos when requested.

After performing these actions, new photos and videos should be automatically reloaded. If you’re someone who actively syncs their photos with OneDrive and want to continue using the service, it might be in your best interest to start preparing to avoid interruptions.
