A few weeks ago, the beta version of WhatsApp worked on disappearing messages that disappeared after being read. Now WhatsApp is developing yet another ephemeral messaging feature. Here are the details.

last month, WABetaInfo informed A WhatsApp beta version built on TestFlight added a “After Reading” option to the app’s existing disappearing message feature.
Currently, WhatsApp’s disappearing messages setting officially supports timers for 24 hours, 7 days, and 90 days. With the new option, which is not yet widespread, users will also be able to set new messages to be deleted after they have been read.

While not yet available to beta testers, the feature will allow users to send one-time text messages and expands on the options already available for photos, videos and voice memos.

After typing a message in the chat bar, users will be able to set the view once option by long pressing the Send button. This action will present a drop-down menu with the “Send as view once” option. After sending, the recipient can open the message once until it becomes unavailable. The feature will be available in both individual chats and groups, making the experience familiar to anyone who’s ever used preview for photos or videos. However, it will not be available on channels where the nature of broadcast communication makes ephemeral messages unusable.
according to WABetaInfothis feature should be a welcome addition for users working around the limitation of adding text to an image and sending it as one-time viewing media.
The report notes that the feature is “currently under development and not available for beta testing.” Still, it shouldn’t be long before at least some WhatsApp TestFlight users gain access to it, setting the stage for a wider rollout.
