two years ago, Google Play Store has introduced collectionsShop, Listen, Food and more. A way to make it easier to access thematically similar programs by grouping them by topic. It didn’t take long for Google to introduce some innovations after that Collection widgetsgiving us quick access to these categories directly from the home screen. Now we’ve seen Google work on the next evolution of Play Store widgets, splitting Collections into multiple, individual widgets.

For this, we are looking at version 52.1.26-31 of the Play Store Android app. Just like these Google Contact changes we just previewed for you, you won’t see any of the updates we previewed here appear on your phone today.
Until now, you have a choice between two Play Store widgets to access your collections. There’s a small one with just icons for individual Collections, or a larger widget on the left side that lists your Collections. Depending on how you configure this, you may not see all available Collection types at once.

But now Google is working on making it easier to focus on the specific Collections that matter most when choosing a widget. With this release, Google is gearing up to let you choose from custom widgets for all your favorite Collections:
All told, users have to choose from eight: Food, Gaming, Listen, Read, Shop, Social, Travel, and Watch.
It’s not so far off that we can put any of these new Collections widgets on the home screen to show you what they look like there and play with the sizes, but at least it’s a nice first look at where things are going.
