TL;DR
- Google Meet will automatically organize recordings, transcripts, and notes in a new Google Meet folder on Drive.
- Each meeting gets its own subfolder, and repeating meetings will keep all samples together.
- Participants with access will also see the shortcuts, the rollout starts today.
Yesterday we saw that Google Meet is making it easier to find files associated with your calls revised web page. Google is now solving the same problem on the Drive side, meeting notes, transcripts, and notes will be automatically organized instead of sitting empty in the host’s memory.

According to the new Google Workspace updatethese files will be uploaded to the host’s new Google Meet folder in My Drive after each meeting. Within that folder, Google will create separate subfolders for individual appointments, with different instances of the same recurring appointment grouped together.
Participants those who have access to meeting files will also see shortcuts to them in their Google Meet folders. Previously, files were only added to the host’s Drive and were not organized by meeting, which could make it more difficult to follow a note or transcript.
Google is also cleaning up the old folder structure. Existing Meet Recordings folders will be moved to the new Google Meet folder and named Legacy Meet Recordings. During the transition, there may be a short period of time when users see both old and new folders.
The update starts rolling out to Rapid Release domains today, with Scheduled Release domains coming on July 30. It will be available to all Google Workspace customers, although admins may need to review any scripts or automated workflows based on specific folder names or IDs.
