YouTube Music offers a split view

A split view Now Playing redesign that YouTube Music is working on from last year is now widespread.

Above, you’ll notice how the Song and Video switcher now uses icons, while the cover art is slightly larger than before.

Old

The placement of the button carousel and main controls has not changed, but the progress bar has moved from a thin line and playhead to a thicker container. When you bump and rub, the line thickens.

Meanwhile, YTM deleted “Lyrics” and “Alaqadar”. The lower part of Now Playing is now dedicated to your Up Next turn. You can swipe anywhere on the player (including the top) to scroll halfway up the player.

New

This redesign introduces a new two-pane design that lets you see skin art, controls, and more. Swipe up again to get the previous full screen design.

You’ll find Lyrics right after the up/down capsule, while Related can be opened by tapping on the song title and the chevron on the right.

The split-view Now Playing redesign is now rolling out across YouTube Music Android (version 9.14) and iOS (9.15). This is a server-side update that triggers the new view by dequeuing and stopping the application.
